2019 International Conference on Field- Programmable Technology was successfully held in Tianjin
From 9th to 13th, 2019, the 2019 International Conference on Field - Programmable Technology was successfully held in Tianjin. The conference is organized by School of Microelectronics, Tianjin University. The program consisted of one and half days of workshops and three days of usual conferences. The conference featured 4 keynote talks, 26 oral presentations, 39 posters, 8 PhD forum papers, 2 demo papers, 14 design competition papers, and 1 Chinese industrial session. These presentations covered a wide area of topics on tools and design techniques, architectures, device technologies, applications, and education of field-programmable technology. After previous extensive invitations and calls for poster submission, the conference attracted more than 160 attendees including well-known experts, young scholars, student representatives all over the world, representatives from well-known companies, and faculties and students all over the world.
The conference invited 4 guests to give keynote talks to share their recent academic achievements and visions of the trends in the field - programmable technology. The invited experts included the Professor of Computer Science at the University of Southern California, Viktor K. Prasanna; the Senior Director of Xilinx Research and Development, Yi Shan; Professor in the Department of Computer Science in Tsinghua University, Guangwen Yang; the Senior Research Scientist at the CTO office of Programmable Solutions Group at Intel, Eriko Nurvitadhi.
From 9th to 13th, the invited talks were hosted in the ballroom in the Holiday Inn Tianjin Riverside. The conference was opened at 9:00 am on December 9, and the venue was packed with audience. The opening ceremony was hosted by Qiang Liu, the vice dean of School of Microelectronics, Tianjin University. The party secretary of School of Microelectronics, Tianjin University, Jinsheng Yang, attended the opening ceremony and gave the welcome speech. Firstly, he welcomed the distinguished guests for coming to the conference. Then, he addressed that the field programmable technology is ideally suited to accelerate a broad set of applications in the emerging era of big data and artificial intelligence, including video transcoding, database, data compression, search, AI inference, genomics, machine vision, computational storage and network acceleration. The China FPGA market is predicted to be about 10 billion RMB by 2025. As the development of 5G and AI technologies, the market is expected to be further extended. This year’s FPT conference held in Tianjin is a very good opportunity for communications among academies and industries. Ideal and knowledge of different networks and groups will communicate, discuss and absorb each other, which will push the field programmable technology move forward quickly.
This conference specially set up a poster display session to strengthen the interaction between the audiences, to promote the discussion and the exchange of academic views. During the breaks between the talks, more than 50 poster submissions collected were displayed in the venues. The audiences all engaged in free and full communication around the contents of the posters in a lively atmosphere.
